Meet the Board Members

The South African Dance Board is comprised of dedicated professionals who bring diverse expertise and passion for dance. Our board members work tirelessly to promote, develop, and advocate for dance across South Africa.

Theoddore Tsepo Mohlala-Kgaphola

Chairperson

Holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Dance in Education from Wits University. An activist in the arts who works with people with disabilities in disadvantaged communities teaching them Dance.

Lesego van Niekerk

Deputy Chairperson

Lesego Van Niekerk is a seasoned choreographer, director and arts leader with over 16 years of experience. She jhas worked on major productions like African Footprint and Chicago the Musical, and let the 2024 Joburg Moves Dance Season.

Evelyn Evh'a Nreso

Secretary

Board Member and Director at COTGA, Women Economic Assembly Sport, Arts and Culture Co-Lead, Founder of GudTV Africa and Director at SALSC.

Portia Scott

Deputy Secretary

Latin and American dancer, treasury of Federation of Dance Sport Limpopo, Chairperson of Dance Sector Limpopo and Deputy Secretary of SADB.

Luyanda Sidiya

Treasurer

With over twenty years in dance, Luyanda Sidiya has shaped the industry through performance, teaching, and community development. Starting in the mid-1990s with township groups.

Lucky Cele

Member

Lucky Nhianhia Cele is an award winning choreographer, writer, Director, composer and a vested vessel within the creative and cultural industry, qualified as a facilitator, assessor and moderator.

Tebogo Lelaletse

Member

Hailing from the North West, Tebogo Lelaletse is a passionate Choreographer and Performer dedicated to using dance as a platform for expression and empowerment. As a proud member of the South African Dance Board (SADB), Tebogo represents people living with disabilities, advocating for inclusivity and equal opportunities within the performing arts.

Letlhogonolo Nche

Member

Letlhogonolo Nche is a South African dance educator, choreographer, and director. A first recipient and winner of the ACT 2016 ImpACT award for Dance. As a cultural leader in the Northern Cape, he continues to shape the landscape of dance and performance with vision, purpose, and unwavering dedication

Nicole Joka

Member

Nicole Joka, a dancer, educator, and choreographer based in Makhanda, Eastern Cape, with extensive experience in the performing arts. Nicole has an extensive academic foundation in dance, psychology, and education, and is deeply committed to advancing arts education and fostering the development of the next generation of South African artists.

Moses Mashianoke

Member

Moses Mashianoke is a dancer and multidisciplinary artist who uses dance to enrich and expand his creative work. Trained with the Magnificent Performing Arts a company where he developed into a versatile performer and later introduced contemporary dance to his township, teaching and sharing it with his community.
